In September 2019, Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) opened the doors to the world’s largest airport terminal building featuring 58 sets of SenseTime’s Smart Passenger Security Check System. The system supports all the key security procedures for both departure and arrival halls at the iconic starfish-shaped Phoenix Terminal.

The system streamlines the passenger identity verification process to create a hassle-free travel experience and set new standards in airport services. The SenseTime Smart Passenger Security Check System automatically verifies all passengers for eligible identity documents and their required flight tickets before departure. The system is also used at the luggage security check area. It matches passengers to their own luggage directly through real-time facial and video analytics which helps to minimize the false collection of luggage. The system significantly cuts down the time for security checks which gives travelers the smoothest stress-free travel experience possible. The new advanced security systems boast an accuracy of over 99.9% for passenger identification and verification. The rate of complete single-passenger inspections has improved from 180 persons per hour to about 260 persons per hour, and the rate of baggage inspection has now reached 792 pieces per hour. This has overall efficiency and safety level of security inspection greatly improved, which help passengers save a lot of waiting time on inspection.
